Anita Borg, a
computer scientist who devoted much of her career to the advancement of women
in computer science. In 1987, after
returning from a technical conference where she was one of only a handful of
women present, Dr. Borg started “Systers”. Systers is an electronic mailing
list on technical subjects exclusively for women who are engineers…thus begins
“e-mail”. Somewhere in the middle of
doing all of her technical research she realized that what she really wanted to
do was not study computers but use computers to link people.
In 2014, our KAZ Biz Plus Team is seeking to
expand on Anita Borg’s vision that she expressed over 25 years ago. It’s up to you as Entrepreneurs to recognize
that computers, cell phones and other digital devices are here to make your
life simpler when used to share and communicate your talents, products, and
services local/national/globally.
It puzzles me when we,
as digital marketers, meet business owners who choose to spend hundreds and
even thousands of dollars on paper printed flyers to stick on cars, mailboxes,
and direct mailing when you can expand your distribution via less expensive digital
platforms (i.e. custom email, social media, YouTube, websites) and cut your overhead
by as much as 90% while consistently increasing your revenue.
Is it true that many
business owners will only begin utilizing the digital marketing concept when
our USA government learns how to charge individuals for these digital resources?
Why do many business owners choose to pay
high monthly fees to large corporations for website development that give little
or no results? Why do many small business owners choose not to do any marketing
while they complain about no store traffic?
We suggest that

quotes is from Helen Keller "The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no
vision." Having a vision begins
with being insightful about the lives with whom we come into contact. An insightful person looks far beyond the
surface when viewing others. To be insightful means seeing beyond the weaknesses
of a person, seeing beyond the words of a person, and seeing beyond the actions
of a person. It means that one can see
the potential of a person despite the obvious facts surrounding that person.
That is vision. Having no vision or insight about others is worse than having
absolutely no sight. Our KAZ Team
chooses to look beyond the obvious.
